New Jersey 250 Supercross Results 2014

GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle scored the 250 SX East win at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin trailed the Honda ace in second-place followed by Factory Metal Works’ Vince Friese in third.

With the entire Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki team sidelined with injury, the chances of a privateer taking the win were higher than usual in Jersey and off the start Riverside Harley’s James Decotis looked ready to take advantage of the opportunity. Decotis scored the holeshot and led the way through the initial laps, with Bogle’s teammate Matt Bisceglia close behind in second. With 11 laps remaining Bisceglia made a block pass that caused Decotis to go down, ending his hopes of a win for the night.

Meanwhile, Bogle was pushing his way to the front, passing Martin and Friese until reaching Bisceglia as the race reached mid-point. Bogle final made the move for the lead with 8 laps to go and from there stretched a gap on the field for the win.

“It’;s a great feeling,” Bogle said. “I certainly feel a lot better about it now than I did at the beginning of the night. Everyone wanted to talk about the points, but I still had a black number plate on my bike. I just tried to tune it all out and do what I’;ve been doing all season. I knew it would all work out if I stayed with the program.

“”It was raining during the main and the track was greasy in a lot of spots. The one thing I wanted to avoid was going down early, so I was a little careful. Once we got rolling I just fell into a rhythm and kind of checked out. There were a few moments when things got gnarly, but I kept my focus and rode it out.

“I’;m so happy to be in this position. We’;ve got one more race next weekend in Vegas and I want to do the same thing I did here. One of my team guys reminded me to enjoy myself today and I really kind of took that attitude.”

Bisceglia finished the night in 4th followed by JAB Motorsports’ Matt Lemoine in fifth. Smartop’s Kyle Cunningham took sixth trailed by’s Alex Martin in 6th and Honda rider Mitchell Oldenburg in eighth. Decotis recovered from his early off to take ninth while XPR Extreme Performance’s Jackson Richardson ended in 10th.

Bogle moves to the top of the 250 SX East Points tally followed by Pro Circuit’s Martin Davalos in second, Adam Cianciarulo in third and Blake Bagget in 4th.
